BGL Indoor Track

Bowling Green Lightning will be participating in a full indoor track schedule this season. The season will begin with the KYA sponsored meet in Johnson City, TN hosted at ETSU's indoor facility and culminate with the New Balance Indoor Championships in New York at the famed Armory. Lightning Trail Run 5K

Bowling Green Lightning athletic club presents the Lightning Trail Run 5K at Low Hollow trail in Weldon Peete Park. The race begins on an open gravel path and enters the trail after 400 meters. The running trail is mostly single file, but it does have several segments that allow passing. More information about Low Hollow Trail can be found on the Southwest Kentucky Mountain Bike Association page.
Early registration is only available online. Online registration closes at 5:00 PM CDT Friday, October 11th. Paper registration will be available race day, October 12th starting at 7:00 AM. The race starts at 8:30 AM CDT Saturday, October 12, 2013.
All race proceeds to benefit the Bowling Green Lightning athletic club.

Bowling Green Lightning will be at Aggie Stadium in Greensboro, NC this weekend to participate in the New Balance Outdoor Nationals track and field championships. The girls will compete in 2 relays and 3 individual events.

The Bowling Green Lightning girls will lace up there spikes this weekend to race at the Indiana Runner Distance Festival held at the University of Indianapolis's Athletics and Recreation Center. The girls will be competing in various individual events and teaming up to compete in their first 4000m Distance Medley Relay. The event focuses on middle distance depth with legs of a 1200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters and ends with a 1600 meter run.

The Bowling Green Lightning girls cross country team will depart for Cary, NC this week to toe the line at the Nike Cross Nationals Southeast Regional meet at WakeMed Soccer complex. The girls toured the course previously this year at the Great American Cross Country Festival hosted by NSSF on September 29. Their seventh place team finish was enough to earn the girls an honorable mention in the Milesplit national rankings the following week.
The young ladies from Bowling Green High School finished off the regular cross country season with a perfect score placing 6 runners in the top 7 at the KHSAA Region 2 AAA meet and claiming 2nd place in the KHSAA AAA State Championship. The runner up team was bested by US #9 Assumption High School, who qualified for last year's NXN and is the favorite for this year's race.
